One person, picking every plate by hand.

LocalBite shows the dish to go for and the kitchen that makes it. Serhan builds it, writing from the venues' own menus and pages, and where a house puts no menu online, its page says so. Nothing scraped, nothing sponsored, and not a directory anyone can pay to join.

Serhan at the table — snails, bread, and wine
Serhan, founder. Plate first: LocalBite starts at the table, not the hype. @gourmart

The dish to go for, proven from the kitchen's own sources.

  • Dish first. Every place comes with the dish we'd go for, and why that plate is the reason to go.

  • Proven from its own sources. The plate is proven on the venue's own menu, words and photos, and the proof sits on its page with the date we checked. We re-check menus every day, the oldest checks first. Where no menu is online, the page says so.

  • Diners counted, not quoted. Diners who went answer one question: would you order the dish again? Once five have, the page shows the count, and it moves the page's confidence up or down. No Google or Tripadvisor stars.

  • Independent first. Nobody pays to be here, and never a chain's default menu. A group's kitchen goes in by name, only when its plate passes the same rules.

Serhan eats and writes with a food-and-wine lens: neighbourhood canteens, serious grills, natural-wine counters, and the rooms mainstream guides skip. Friends kept asking “where should we actually go?” and “what do we order?” LocalBite is the answer we kept giving them, written down.

Restaurant visits, dish notes and the kitchens that still deserve a place on the list go up on Instagram, @gourmart.
